** Starlight... Starbright... **

I am all about soft lighting...

candles and whatever else can make a room cozy and comfortable

and while looking for a few ideas I stumbled across this really neat lighting shindig...

which actually can be displayed throughout the entire year and not just during the holidays :)

Well and I actually think that pretty much anyone can put this neat project together in no time,

even if you are a "DIY Newcomer" -

I estimate that this gorgeous piece of art-lighting will not take more then two hours tops...

As usual you will have to visit your local Art's & Craft store to get your supplies, which are...

• One medium or large canvas (seen for around $10.00 on ebay)
• 100 Mini lights, white (or colored... it's your project so you get to choose your favorite color)
• One small can of latex paint (color shown -> Pale Pink, but again you choose any color you like - preferably matching the decor in your room
• Craft clue

Here is how you do it: 

• First paint your canvas with your latex paint (let it dry)
• Next plot out your design, either as it is shown in the picture above or let your creative brain run wild with your own design (i.e. cool & funky message etc)
• If you choose to go with the design above pencil the dots on the back, remember to keep them about a half-inch apart.
• Take an awl or another pointy tool and gently press through each dot to make a hole slightly smaller then the light bulbs.
• Press one bulb into each hole and secure each one with your craft clue

 *** Voila - all done ***

** Groovy Flower Power Retro Re-Do **

I always loved the 70's style... not sure why

Well... -minus that awful Poison Green & Orange wall paper and minus those sometimes strange looking fashion styles...

then again never mind about that, after all flared hiphuggers jeans and little funkydelic shirts somehow made their way back into almost everyone's closet after all ;P

Anyway... I just love how this "Retro Deco Style" is slowly but surely making a come back,

actually more and more customers starting to favor the cool retro look,

which I think is awesome because it means I get to have even more fun designing & creating pretty cool things with this great business gig of mine...

Of course some people can't help themselves...

They just have to dive into one of those fancy modern high priced furniture stores, so they can be especially "Groovy with Style"...

well and perhaps there are times when one should check into a high end shop first - i.e. when planning to purchase a larger furniture piece!

But for the smaller & funner things -

I recommend the simple places, like your local Flea market or your Neighborhood Yard Sale ,

because those are the best places to find all sorts of retro decor for just a few dollars, after all it is just as they say -->

"One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure" 

Trust me I know - because while hunting for cool treasures this has been the truth for me more then just once...

However a few years ago I learned that our local "NC State Surplus" Office

(or any other State Surplus office) is "the" place to go especially if you are looking for some well made retro furniture pieces for your next "Flower Power Re-Do Project"...

As far as finding the right fabric for your "Re-Do Project",

I can assure you that you wont have a problem at all, because I know that most of our favorite on-line fabric vendors have very pretty, cool & funky fabric which is on sale most of the time...

I think it is simply amazing what can become of an rather ugly piece of furniture after just a few hours of well deserved TLC ...

I am sure you would agree with me that everyone should have something bright & colorful in the house...
otherwise you can't consider yourself "HIP"...

Now let's say ... 

AFTER reading this great "Retro Re-Do"  inspiration piece,

you suddenly remember that you have one or two old'er chairs hidden in some back corner room which actually could use some serious "Re-Do Magic"...

like this Office Chair... - believe me this one used to be one really "Ugly Duckling"...

But not anymore!

or how about those dining room chairs of yours??
They used to be so fancy and pretty back in the "olden days"...
But not so much anymore, especially after having gone through a few dinner parties... or were they food fight parties considering the stains left behind...
either way there is no denying that those chairs are in desperate need of a make over!!

But like so many other projects on your to do list... you've been meaning to get this one done,

however you just don't have the time or perhaps you actually don't think this kind of DIY'er project is for you ...
